Spencer Phillips, Founder

For nearly two decades, Spencer has focused his law practice on helping business owners and employees understand and protect their legal rights.

Spencer has extensive experience with numerous state and federal employment laws, including those dealing with discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wages, disability accommodation, employee privacy and many other important legal issues. He also teaches these legal principles as an Adjunct Professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School.

Before starting Employer-Lawyer, PLLC, Spencer was a Senior Attorney with the largest employment law firm in the world where he litigated cases in 48 of the 50 United States. He also has experience serving as in-house employment counsel for a multi-billion-dollar publicly-traded company, former Judge for the State of New York, and civil rights attorney for employees and disadvantaged individuals.

When he is not practicing law, you can find him spending time with his family, preferably at the beach.

Lisa Fowler, Attorney

Lisa brings twenty-seven years’ experience as an attorney, college professor and HR professional. With her Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior with an emphasis in Human Resource Management, Lisa is well situated to help our business clients understand and protect their legal rights and ensure they are in full compliance with the complicated HR legal rules. Lisa helps clients avoid litigation by counseling on daily HR issues, reviewing and updating key employment documents, and providing training services to employees and management.

Lisa graduated Cum Laude from BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1996.

When Lisa is not practicing law, she can be found with her family and friends, or curled up with a good book!

Heather Burton, Attorney

Heather is a strong believer in safe, fair, and healthy workplaces where management and employees can thrive. She advises clients on a variety of employment law issues, helping employers and employees benefit from the latest employment law developments. Before coming to Employer-Lawyer, Heather worked as an associate attorney at a national employment law firm. She also has experience with estate planning and general civil litigation.

Heather earned her law degree from J. Reuben Clark (BYU) Law School where she served as a law review senior editor, a leadership fellow, and a member of the women-in-law board. Heather also earned her bachelor's degree from BYU, majoring in political science and minoring in business and communications.

Heather is licensed to practice law in Utah and Idaho.

When Heather is not practicing law, she enjoys spending time with family, friends, and her three golden doodles. She also enjoys hiking, biking, running, reading, cooking, volunteering, and playing pickleball.

Nancee Tegeder, Of Counsel

Nancee is a seasoned attorney specializing in employment law, with an extensive background in contract law, business structures, real estate syndications, and trademark law.  Nancee has honed her expertise through diverse roles, including a partnership at a boutique securities law firm, serving as in-house counsel for multiple small businesses, and successfully operating her own estate planning law firm in Arizona for five years. Nancee is licensed in Utah, California and Arizona.  

Outside the legal realm, Nancee finds exhilaration in wakeboarding and snowboarding, embracing the rush of adrenaline both on water and snow. Being conversant in Russian, Nancee was recently able to spearhead impactful humanitarian work for Ukranian refugees, many of whom have been close personal friends of Nancee's for years.

Amanda Webster,

Office Manager

Amanda brings a wealth of organizational prowess and warmth to her role as the Office Manager at Employer-Lawyer. With a solid foundation in administration and a keen eye for detail, Amanda ensures the seamless operation of our office, from onboarding new clients to managing schedules for our growing legal team. Her efficiency is matched only by her genuine care for the well-being of our clients and our team, always ready with a smile and a solution to any challenge that arises. 

Fluent in both the language of law and Spanish, Amanda's linguistic versatility enriches our firm's ability to serve a diverse range of clients.
